Uncertainty

Life. Is it more filled with certainty or uncertainty? Life, is nothing but a seeming never-ending episode of uncertainty, leading to other uncertainties.

We get an education yet we are uncertain of the challenges we will face at school. We get qualified yet, are uncertain if we will even get a job that best suits our area of expertise or our passions. We get a job but even then, there is uncertainty of our level of success, mobility, the obstacles we may face and so much more. We may meet someone we fall in love with yet, we are never certain if they are the one we will marry, and if we do; we are never certain of how things will work out.

Amidst all these forms of bewilderment, the greatest of all that I ask myself is “When will I die? Will it be a peaceful death?” Maybe you don’t ask these questions but I most certainly do.

Life can be very uncertain. In fact, no one can ever be truly certain of exactly how life will turn out. We may have hopes, dreams and ambitions; we may even work as hard as possible to ensure a specific lifestyle, yet amidst it all, uncertainty is still present.

Life is filled with uncertainty, but of these things I am truly certain – God is real and His Love is even more so. This certainty, causes all other uncertainties to become blurred and thus out of my focus. There is a scripture that states, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” It’s a powerful question and statement even. It’s saying that having full knowledge that our God loves and cares for us, it matters not who may stand against us, be it principalities, powers, sickness, disease, death etc.

God is for us!!! This is the most certain statement that we can make. Death is certain, but because I have given my life to God, the uncertainty of time here on earth is not such a problem anymore. The focus now is to love as much, while there is such time to love as such.

No Idols Accepted Here

Being a Christian today is becoming extremely hard as each day goes by. One must be honest within themself and make the necessary adjustments to the dilemmas of Today’s Christendom. One major weapon of distraction today is the device we are holding in our hands right now.

Its power of distraction and destruction is far-reaching. It has not only destroyed the fabric of many relationships among us as humans, but it even threatens that which we have or seek to have with God. The world of social media is an all-encompassing web of gossip, trends, entertainment, dark proclivities among a host of other mind-swaying activities.

Funnily, the phone can be used for great good yet, more often than so; it is the tool that is crippling churches as members dwindle from distracted yet present, to indulging and absent. It’s honestly like I am watching the destruction of the world in slow motion and feel a strong sense of powerlessness in stopping it.

That which is in the hand has now replaced He who is within our heart; that which has no life is an idol now worshipped even among His stalwarts.

I pray today for a love unfiltered, undiluted, unlimited, unhinged, uncompromising and unimaginable between our selves and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray for a love that cannot be tampered with, that shall not be swayed, but will be laser-focused in its motives, its purpose and the process required to remain effective.

Let us seek the Lord for His tremendous grace that makes our weaknesses, strengths; even now in Jesus’ Name. AMEN!!!

He Doesn’t Call the Qualified; He Qualifies the Called

For us Christians, we are on a journey of continuous maturity, being called the righteousness of God; yet we strive day after day for perfection. However, the dilemma is, what happens when your are still in the struggle and yet God wants to use you to minister to people who are in the struggle with you? One may think it only practical to become a master before one can preach, teach or pray for others, but most of the time it doesn’t work that way.

In truth, as we reach out or do outreach, God reaches in and gives us the grace to overcome as we help others do the same. You maybe used to administer healing or motivation to others even though you may be at your weakest. Moses, stuttered in his speech, yet God still deemed him fit for service. As TD Jakes said it, “His stutter didn’t stop his anointing”. God wants to let you know that your stutter won’t stop your anointing.

Paul suffered from a thorn in his flesh, which he pleaded with the Lord three different times for its removal. Yet, the Lord did not. Paul realized that his thorn kept him human, kept him broken, kept him reliant on God’s grace for success. It was Paul who later came to the understanding that “when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10). God prefers to use the down, defeated and ostracized than those who suffer from pride, self-sufficiency and selfishness.

I challenge you today to show the love of Christ to those around and see how God uses that as a springboard to your future victories and eternal success.

When?

In witnessing there are always few responses that are consistently used. The most popular of these, when one is asked about making Jesus their Lord and Savior is, “I am just not ready yet.” This response infers a lot of information. First of all, it assumes that there is a specific day, time and moment that one may suddenly be ready or feel ready. The second, is that it assumes that one has full knowledge of the times, that is, when one is going to pass on from this life.

The first misconception with regard to getting saved, is that there will never be a time when all the signals are just perfect. In fact, most times while someone maybe ministering to you about Jesus, the enemy is doing the opposite by inputting thoughts of doubt and worry at the same time. This is why one may feel a sense of conviction and motivation to make that right decision only to be bombarded with opposing thoughts of how they will stop sinning, or what if they backslide, or what may others think etc.

These thoughts are meant to destroy you by keeping you in sin and as such, must be ignored if one is to have any chance of experience the power, presence and purpose of God in their life. Like NIKE, “Just Do It!” Don’t hesitate!

The second misconception assumes that one has complete knowledge that their day and hour is no nigh. The truth is that not even the prophets, the apostles and other stalwart men and women of God are certain of the time that they will be called up to meet Him. This is why we have made the most important preparation of all. It is because we don’t know when this world will end and more so, we do not know when we will die, that we choose not to wait until the last-minute. Choose today as well as every other day to die to our old selves and LIVE COMPLETELY FOR CHRIST.’

The First Sin: Even an Angel Failed this Test

The self-righteous are some of the most dangerous persons in this world. There is nothing more diabolical and duplicitous than a self-righteous person. Before I go any further, let me first say that I myself am guilty of this sin and have found forgiveness in Christ. Let me now go on to say that this is one of the most dangerous sins to commit yet, one of the easiest ones as well.

Self-righteousness is borne in pride which in truth is conceived in ignorance. In our lack of true understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, His love and His mercy, we find ourselves easily judging others while relaxing the measure of judgement for others closest to us – be it family members or loved ones.

Self-righteousness was the first sin to be committed. Satan’s sin was a sin of pride; a sin of considering or esteeming himself more important than others and equal to God. Where is your pride derived? Is it in thinking of yourself more valued than others or one that causes you to reject God and out rightly blaspheme His Word?

My prayer today is that we all make it our daily prayer to search the deepest recesses of our hearts and cauterize any and all forms of pride and self. This can only be done by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit our Counselor. Let pride me and all flesh be crucified daily so that the resurrected power of Jesus may empower us to magnificent signs and wonders.

God Bless.

Wants, Needs & Desperation

The Lord said in His Word in Psalms 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” Yet, some of us have desires, that is, things that we want that still haven’t been met.

Then there are the things we need, in which Philippians 4:19 states, “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Yet, some of us still have needs that are yet to be satisfied.

Finally, there are things that we are desperate for. Regarding desperation, the Bible states in Matthew 5:6 that, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”

Wants are normally many, needs few and desperation is mainly singular in quantity. We may want a house, a car, wealthy influence; need a trustworthy spouse, a job, food; but be desperate for healing, a breakthrough, a miracle, deliverance.

What is the one thing above everything else that you are desperate for? One important point to note is this, God most assuredly shall give you the desires of your heart once you delight yourself in Him; He shall supply all of your needs in His timing, assuming that you are being obedient to His Word; anything that you crave for more than life itself shall surely be given.

Jacob was desperate and wrestled with God until the breaking of day and His life was forever changed. The lady with the issue of blood crawled through the tightly knit crowd and received healing from a lifelong condition. Your life can and will be changed too if you are hungry enough, thirsty enough and desperate enough.

The Measure of Our Treasure

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34

The word ‘treasure‘ according to the Merriam Dictionary is described as wealth of any kind or in any form, or something of great worth or value. Treasure today can be defined as money, time and energy.

For most, their main desire is for more money, the poor need it, the average pursue it and the rich hoard it. Whenever we come into contact with money, God instantly starts looking on how we spend it. What percentage is spent on ourself? What percentage is given to God? Do we include Him in the ways and means that each dollar is spent?

What about our time? How much hours are spent furthering our own direct needs and wants over the plans, purposes and mission that God made for us to execute. What is the ratio of time spent doing our own thing versus time doing God’s will and seeking His face?

Thirdly, there is our energy. Many may honor God with their money through tithing, some may even spend some time having their devotions, but how much of our energy is spent being a witness to the ends of the earth, evangelizing, encouraging and praying for others.

He is looking for people who will not just honor Him with their lips but with their hearts as well, their prized treasures, the sacred gifts, their best. Are you willing to give God your best treasure? Is He not more than worth it? Will He not more than honor your giving Him your best by giving you His best treasures?

Finally, I must note one simple and overlooked fact:
God has no use for our money, He already owns it all. When He asks you to give it is His way of getting blessings to you. Giving our best to Him shows how obedient and reliant we are on Him. AMEN!!!!

Knock, Knock

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Revelation 3:20

Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15

“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

The four verses above all depict the Lord’s desire to redeem us from our sinfulness. From knocking consistently everyday, to warning us not to ignore his voice, to mentioning ‘NOW’ as being the best time for salvation rather than ‘later,’ and lastly; revealing His ultimate desire to see us all saved. Yet, reality is such a different case. It’s like we have a vindicator but we neither need His vindication or presence.

¤ How long have we left Jesus outside, knocking on the door of our hearts?
¤ How much years have we dedicated to sin?
¤ Isn’t it time to give God a chance in our life now?
¤ Or, is sin really worth the risk of an eternity of suffering?

I encourage us all to acknowledge the King of Kings knocking on the door of our hearts. I encourage is all to give our Creator, God and Lord the chance to reveal His love and purpose for us in all its magnificence and majesty.

When the Finish Line Fades

The events of yesterday’s 4×100 meter will forever be etched in my memory. Our champion Bolt, in his final race of his illustrious career pulled-up on the anchor leg and was unable to finish the race. His pain-stricken face as he looked towards the finish line made me look into my life and future.

Bolt-beaten.jpg

What happens when the finish line becomes blurred?
What happens when we have every intention to finish but our body restricts you?
What can we do when the tenacity we once had becomes a depleted propensity that seeks to delete our intensity?

When the finish line fades and lines become blurred…
Will I still be able to take God at His Word?
When the pain strikes my body with no medical cure…
Will I trust in His Blood when all say it’s absurd?

When calamity strikes and I am bent out of shape…
Can I be unshakeable forever abiding within my faith?
When the lights go out and my friends fade…
Even then, I will trust in the Ancient of Days!

Bolt’s legendary status has been borne through dedication, passion and pain,
Success has a price that most won’t be paying.

I do want to speak of another Legend though, one who eclipses the sum total of all great men.
He is the Alpha, the Omega, the Beginning and End.

I do know of a Legend, a best friend to all men, acquainted with our sorrows, the Lifter of our Heads.
He is Jesus, the true, ever-living, faithful; Our Daily Bread.

I celebrate the Legend that I’ve found in Christ.
He who became nothing so that we who were nothing could rise.

When the finish line fades and all the world’s a mess,
Trust in Jesus he will make a message of life’s tests.
