When Purpose Calls

Where would the world of technology be without a Bill Gates?
Where would the sport of Basketball be without a Michael Jordan?
Where would Track & Field be without a Usain Bolt?
Where would Reggae music be without a Bob Marley?
Where would Jamaica be without Our National Heroes?
Where would we be without our Mom’s and Dad’s?
Where would we be without the spouse we chose to give our life to?
But most important of all – Where would we be without Jesus Christ?

Purpose had to be claimed and fulfilled through each of these persons listed above. Imagine if each never accepted their chosen path and decided to live without true purpose; how would things be different Today?

What is your true God-given divine purpose? For what circumstance and situation were you made to impact and better? Purpose like breath has been given to each and every one of us. Pray to the Lover of Your Soul and ask Him, “Lord, what is my purpose here on this earth?”

If you already know your purpose, I encourage you towards the journey of running the race and reaching the prize. I also encourage you to help someone along the way to find their purpose as well. God wants to use each and every one of us in a manner that will bring glory to His name. I challenge you to seek Him in this regard. Amen!!!

The Chance We Didn’t Take

Life is a story of chances, some of which has led heart ache; others, have given us some of the most amazing memories we have today. A person who refuses to take a chance or risk may very well avoid being hurt, but sometimes, even the hurts teaches us wisdom that may make us into more successful people tomorrow. The act of not taking a chance in my opinion, is worse than taking a chance and getting hurt by it. There is no knowledge that is not beneficial in some way.

The word ‘chance’ denotes the presence of a risk or an opportunity that may or may not bring a positive outcome. Let’s just say we all gave God a chance in our lives, we would be assured of the following:

1. He would never fail and would never leave or forsake us.
2. Even if we thought He had failed us or, we believe your life to be irredeemable, He has the ability to make all things work together for our good.
3. He puts His word above His own name meaning that, His #1 priority is in keeping His word.

This chance could easily be described as one of the simplest, most powerful and most pertinent of all. In the end of a life we may have made a million choices including chances given to school, work, friends, family and self. Of all the chances to be made, the one chance we didn’t take could be the one that could prove to be our biggest mistake. It could be so very profound, that amidst all of a persons success, good heart and good deeds they would have passed on without being heaven-bound.

Of a million chances that are taken within a person’s life, the most powerful and precious is the one we make for Jesus Christ. Continue reading “The Chance We Didn’t Take”

Even Then

And even when the numbers fade,
And the crowds decrease,
I will still remain with My Prince of Peace.
Even when the remnant is swayed,
And the warriors flee
I will still be praying on bended knees.

Even when the world turns away,
And they lock me away in prisons;
I will continue to love You Lord in all seasons.
Even when I am betrayed
By those closest and I’m beaten;
I will still dance for joy, drunk beyond reason.

Even when my energy gives way,
And I’ve prayed until I’m wheezing;
I will never stray from my reason for living.
Even when my body, this clay,
Has reached the limit its been given;
Yet, shall His grace empower me to pray without ceasing.

How to Hear God’s Voice

1. Being a child of God
John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Revelations 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

2. Being Obedient
Obedience is the most powerful key to receiving all the Lord’s blessing inclusive of being more acquainted with His voice.

3. Asking Open Questions (Building Rapport)
Too Many times we ask the Lord questions with one-worded answers. We need to open up the conversation and our faith by asking conversational questions.

4. Waiting/Being Silent + Removing Noise
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; Isaiah 30:15
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength

5. Fasting
Fasting causes you to hear God’s voice in a more definite, amplified way. Isaiah 58:9 states, “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”

6. Reading the Word of God
Reading the Bible consistently is a definite way of hearing God’s voice as He many a time will quicken scriptures to your memory regarding a certain situation.

7. Praying
Praying consistently is in essence building one side of communication. As we pray to Him always give the Lord time to also respond to our requests.

Many a times the Lord will speak to us through our conscience. Sometimes it may come as a the following lines:

“I really need to start reading my Bible more.”

“I haven’t been to church for a while.”

“Tell that person next to you about Jesus.”

“I really need to give my life to the Lord.”

Now that we know this, some may come to the realization that they may have heard God’s voice at some point in time in our life. If you haven’t or want to hear Him more consistently, apply the methods above for guaranteed intimacy with your King of kings.

Ready to Start Making a Profit?

Going to school
Going to work
Going to the gym
Going to church
Going out
Giving to the poor
Buying a house
Buying a car
Getting married
Having kids
Being a good person
Being forgiving
Being loving
Standing up for justice
Being a voice for the weak
Studying the Bible
Having religious conversations

Two people could manage to do all these things yet, one could inherit eternal life in heaven and another be sent to eternal damnation in hell. The only difference would be which one had received Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Sad to say, but even the best of life’s if lived without Jesus brings very little profit if any. Life is all about accepting the finished work of Jesus in which He overcame, sin, death and the grave; so that we could be empowered to live holy, righteous, powerful and free. Anyone who tells you anything less than this is a liar and the truth is not in him.

So many spent so much of themselves at the pleasure of self or others and missed the mark. My prayer is that you realize that Jesus is the Merciful today but rejecting Him becomes the Great Judge tomorrow.

What Time is It?

Time it’s one the most powerful resources to show some somethings worth.
It’s like when it comes to time, people are rarely late for work.
Time waits for no one, the countdown clock begins from birth;
Isn’t it funny we always have time for school or work, but some have no time for church.

The thing with time is that it tells where our heart’s treasure lays.
The place where you spend your time mostly is the god that has your praise.
So, I say I love the Lord but in a given week, I can barely give Him a Sunday or Saturdays.
Yet, our time for other things are never compromised. LORD please let Your truth saturate!

They praise Me with their lips yet their hearts are no where close,
Service to God or money many make money their cross.
Who said ‘time is money’ that phrase is so funny; in time and money that person got lost.
Time is the precious commodity given to us by the Ultimate Boss.

Time is precious please don’t forget this life lesson friend,
Time is the only thing that keeps our hearts beating, at an unknown time that ends.
This is another day and time to make Jesus your Daily Bread,
Ignoring this time could be the last time; choose wisely where you wish to spread your bed.

What time is it?

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2.

Too Busy

I am so busy, like each and everyday.
Too busy to talk right now, too busy to hear you pray.
I have the poor to help, so many mouths to feed.
There is enough for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed.

I’m busy son; my daughter, please hold. Talk to Me later or leave me a message after the tone.
Please don’t complain, I’m God – this is true.
You have always been too busy for Me, now I’m a little too busy for you.

I know you’re back is in a corner, I can hear you while you’re crying.
There’s so much watches in the world, yet, no one has the time.
You delay until the last-minute when calamity hits,
Then you call out for Me saying, “Jesus, please fix this!”

Yet, all day I called for you when life was so fun,
And like a fugitive from my love, all you would do was run.
You would flee from your calling and your purpose all day long –
Into the arms of the evil that I died to save you from.

“Busy, just too busy,” is always your excuse.
So now I’m just too busy, to be focusing on you.
Imagine if we got what we deserved? Would the Lord still hear our call?
So many deny Him daily yet claim to really love Him after all.

They never repented, never confessed or asked Jesus to come within.
They always thought of holiness as boring, and found great pleasure living in sin.
“But I believe in Him,” some say; “I even say so on my Instagram profile.”
But even the devil believes to be honest; simple belief isn’t worthwhile.

Unless a man surrenders his entire life to the Lord, and sincerely lives in obedience to His Word;
His life will be in danger of hell fire, this should be of great concern.
And if the earthly agenda has him wrapped that he hasn’t secured his soul,
Then rather than being sold-out for Jesus he’s simply out-cold.

In the end, all jobs, money, friends and followers will be left behind,
They may turn to Jesus because your death was enough of a sign.
Then you would realize that you had so many amazing chances –
Yet, was just too busy to accept the Lord’s advances.

Some may start to read this but may be too busy to read to the end,
If you are still here reading, please forward this to a busy friend.
Please consider making Jesus the Lord of your life,
Of all the wrongs things that we’re busy doing this is the one that’s so right.

If You Ain’t First, You’re Last!

So, Today’s the first of July and as such, it’s been a while since we did the Devotional “Seeking FIRST” the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This devotional will examine if God is FIRST, or help us to realize exactly how important He is to us; being 100% truthful to yourself, is the only requirement.

What is the very FIRST thing that you do after waking up in the morning (that is, after using the bathroom etc)?

What is the FIRST thing that you do or think about doing when you get your paycheck?

Where is the FIRST place that you go in times of trouble?

What is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind when you think of Heaven; and now, Hell?

When comparing phone, internet, tv, gym, parties or devotions which comes easiest to you?

Today is a day like any other but sometimes it helps reconciling our belief in God to our actual actions; after all, ‘action does speak louder than words.’

I urge the readers of Today’s message to realize that like the Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights said “If you ain’t first, you’re last!” If God isn’t first then you know who is.

Prayer for Today:
LORD JESUS, help me to put you FIRST in all things, including relationships, my affection, my treasure and my days. Forgive me for where I’ve went ahead of You and got too busy to honor You with best part of my day, my energy and focus. I ask for Your Grace to put You FIRST and keep You there, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN!!!

The Cheater

As Christians we learn from a Savior who loved us all while we were still sinners. Jesus’ love is one that reaches out to every man, woman and child. It matters not the sins we commit, His love calls for each and every one of us to accept His love and purpose for us.

Although God’s love is from everlasting to everlasting, we also know that He is holy and has sincere hatred against sin. Imagine His hatred: He sent His Son for the core purpose of redeeming and cleansing us from all sins. Thus, His Son was invested for the return of our holiness. When we flirt, dabble and indulge in sin, we break His heart and show hatred towards God.

So he loves us no matter who we are or what we have done, but he abhors sin and our sinfulness with a righteous jealousy.

Imagine you had dedicated your life to loving and caring for someone. When you helped them out, they would never be there for you. When you had made every effort for them to have peace, joy and security they would never see the sacrifice as anything worth consideration. When you stayed faithful, they cheated. Your jokes were never funny enough, but the other person’s was. Your love was seeing as pathetic and weak but they preferred a more dangerous and abusive love that left them victimized. You only had the best of self-sacrificial love to share, but they preferred the love of someone you knew, was evil in its purest of forms.

What would you do?
Would you not warn them about the dangers of the other person?
Would you not speak to their value system and self-worth and let them know they deserve better than the abuse?
If you had limitless power, would you not want to rend heaven and earth to secure their heart and rebuke their pain?

This is but a snippet, snapshot, screenshot in the eyes of a God whose feelings are a million times over than we may have the capacity to feel.

Imagine how His heart breaks when we play around with sin.
Imagine His pain when the things He died for us to be free from, we nurture, protect and call it good.
The same devil He gave us the power to defeat, is the one we keep closest to our hearts; while rejecting Him.

My friends please consider the love relationship between God and You. No one loves a cheater; Yet any day Jesus would say “I DO!”

Prayer for Today:
LORD JESUS, I know I have been unfaithful and ungrateful to You in more ways than I can count, consider or remember. I ask you to forgive me and I invite You in my heart today.
Help me to love You the way You love me.
Help me to love myself the way You love me.
Help me to love each person the way You love me and finally;
Help me to love my enemies the way You love me.
I pray these things in no other name, but the In the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!!!

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5

Almost all of these questions were zero for me. I was a hardcore sinner as most of those who really knew me could tell you. Ask yourself these questions too:

How much times per day do I set a part to have devotions, pray, read the Bible etc?
Assuming I devote moments in my day for seeking the Lord; how much time do I spend per day in total?
How often do I read the Bible per week?
How much people do I evangelize on a daily basis?
How much saints do I encourage on average per day?
Do I go out of my way to care for the poor, the sick or the powerless?
What percentage of my posts on social media give glory to God?

If the above questions are mostly zero for you, that means that you are quite likely living in sin as I was. If you are a Christian and your numbers are low, then you have some things to work on.

The questions below, I used to pass with flying colors. See how you measure up:

How much time do I spend on your phone?
How much time do I spend watching tv per day?
How much time do I spend playing games or surfing the internet per week?
How much time do we spend working per day?
How much time do we spend at the gym per week?
Do parties take precedence over spending time in worship?
Does the gym come more easy to you than going out to share the Gospel?
Does hanging out come easier than going to church?
Is listening to hip hop, rap and/or reggae an easier ask than reading the Bible?

Most of us know internally when we are not living righteous, holy lives; and we really don’t need anyone to point it out. Yet, God’s blessings go out to that annoying person that loves us enough to tell us the truth knowing that there is strong chance that we don’t want to hear. Sometimes we need a reminder, because we have the tendency to slip into our usual routine that excludes being exclusively reserved for Christ and His purposes for us.

This is your reminder today. I realized the eternal detriment I could find myself in if I died outside of Christ. Over fifty-five million people die every year, over 151,000 each day and over 6 thousand each hour. These numbers represent lives that were no different from ours; all loved by God and filled with purpose. Yet, death comes. It comes for us all, young or old, rich or poor, Christian or non-believer.

This is a word of encouragement to Christians; give everything you have. This is a warning to the unbeliever – Repent! For the kingdom of God is near and death may be even nearer!

Prayer for Today:
LORD JESUS, even amidst beautiful days and joyous moments, lives are being taken. I ask You to save me from all the distracting noise of life around me. I ask You to enable me to start living for You. Forgive me Lord of all my sins and unrighteousness. Come into my heart Jesus and be my Lord & Savior forevermore, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN!!
