18 Years After

18 years ago to this exact day a 16-year-old Jamaica College student went up to the front of a church in response to an altar call.

Little did he know how his life was going to be transformed. He neither knew 1 week later he would be filled with the Holy Spirit nor that 2 weeks after God would use him to heal someone and prophesy to a church.

All he knew that he was as sinful, cunning and evil as they came. On the surface, he was a seemingly decent young man, but deep down was a person that would weaken anyone’s relationship with the Lord.

From turning proper Christian-like girls to the most daring ambitious bad girls to influencing curious people to becoming the most hardcore partygoers.

How was he to know that Good Friday, would lead him to do the complete opposite of what he did previously.

Or that he would be a preacher on buses, a minister through social media, a mentor to a few, a full-time evangelist to a world that seems to be growing ever so further away from Jesus Christ.

Yet, here he is; 18 years after:

The road; a mess.
The walk; riddled with failure.
The struggles; many.
Those led to the Lord; around a thousand.
Greatest miracles; salvation and stage 4 cancer leukemia healing.
God; ever-present.
Fighting; always.
Loving; always.
His; always!
Humility; my number 1 ask of the Lord.

This is where I am after 18 years. Where will you be?

Faith Misplaced? A Serious Mistake

If you have made the mistake of using any other means for success, fame, power, health or wealth; other than to have placed it in Jesus Christ, you have not only been deceived and involved in the detestable sin of idolatry, but are also in danger of God’s wrath; as the wages of sin is?

This message is not one to be ignored, simply overlooked or disregarded. We have thrown away our faith that should have been placed in God, and decided to trust in self, trust in others, and some in groups and organizations some of which are even sworn to secrecy. God neither slumbers nor sleeps. Allegiance, that is, swearing to anything in heaven, on earth or under earth is from the devil himself as said by Jesus in Matthew 5:34-37. Be not deceived, for God is not mocked, what is sown shall be reaped.

Any other dependence other than God is a sin, point-blank. You should take this as a most sincere warning that if you continue on this path there will be certain and sudden destruction. God wants to be your source for all things and is able to provide all that you need that pertains to life and godliness. Yet, evading His plan and love will only be to find comfort in prepared path that leads only to eternal damnation.

There are not many who may love enough to be cut to the chase and tell you the plain truth as it is. As such, this is a letter of loving warning to all who take the time to read, and please, pass on to a friend, sister or brother. Place the entirety of your trust, life and being in God’s hands and watch Him do His best work in and through you. Amen!

Who Does Not Need Rest?

Rest according to the dictionary means to:
i. cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength.
ii. an instance or period of resting.
iii. an interval of silence of a specified duration.

What Does the Bible Say About Rest?
i. But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; Isa. 40:31
ii. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. Ps. 23:2-3
iii. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Heb. 4:10

Humans need rest, and without it we will most certainly die. It is also the most major component to health and fitness as well.

Every creature and even our machinery depends on periods of rest and without it, optimal performance will become diminished and later lead to serious malfunction.

Jesus’ death and resurrection was one that enabled us to be able to enter into His rest. Heaven is the final resting place, but the Lord wants for us to experience His rest while we are still here in this life.

He wants you to surrender your life to Him. For so long, we have been fighting our own battles, for success, for being upright people, for achieving a future for our family.

The worst part is that we have been doing it without any rest whatsoever, and if we continue will only continue to face diminishing returns along with failure, fears, insecurities, sadness, frustration and depression.

Jesus, has paved the path for you to finally rest and finally give Him the go ahead to fight and win these battles for you, whilst imparting the peace, the joy, contentment and great gain in all that you do.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28

A Message to the Deeply Rooted (continued):

Humility is –
+ the lowliness of spirit
+ the humbling of oneself
+ the denial of our flesh
+ considering the needs of others greater than our own
+ the brokenness of spirit
+ the utter dependence on God
+ the abolishing of all ‘self’ before God.

One may go to hell for doing all the wrong things and thus living sinfully which is pretty obvious.

But one may have done all the right acts, believed themselves to be a Christian and yet still find themselves in hell as well.

The key cause of this is PRIDE. This was the first sin to have ever been committed and was carried out by Lucifer, himself.

Thus, it goes without saying that this is his #1 play in all of humanity.

Pride is the reason many people reject Christ, why so many Christians are afraid to evangelize to their friends and so much more.

As such, it is of paramount importance that under the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, we examine our lives daily, so as to ascertain the motifs behind all our actions, decisions and so forth. The proper formation of this practice will not only curtail instances where pride raises its ugly head, but aid in safeguarding your salvation in Christ.

Each day pride has to be crucified along with lust of the eyes and flesh. I also suggest to make it your daily prayer for humility to be your #1 ask of the Lord.

For you who wish to dig even deeper, we may go one step further and afflict our souls with fasting, as this is the most potent form of humbling ourselves before God.

Fasting along with daily examining of ourselves are two integral practices that I believe each true believer in the Body of Christ needs to be doing.

This along with the expected prayer and reading of God’s Word of course.

I encourage you all as I do myself ” To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Competing Powers

In a world built on the need to be the best, the first, to be seen, to be known, to be liked and to be followed; the war of competing powers is one never to be engaged in, but simply ignored.

This ‘driven’ world is built on man-made, human-defined success that proves false, lacking and short-lived. As we assess the lives of the rich and the famous, we easily realize how much so many of them fail on even coming even close to achieving peace, security, deep-rooted happiness, lasting joy and true success.

Rather, we hear of sex scandals, DUI’s, drug-abuse, suicides, questionable deaths along with their being plagued by paparazzis, who withhold our basic desire for privacy. Yet, so many people rush in for the deception of wealth and fame, not knowing the ask that it requires is one that very few are truly willing to pay.

The most unfortunate thing is for the one’s who have paid the ultimate price and sacrificed what was necessary to get what they so needed from life and still find themselves wanting.

Man has no greater need for God, yet what he wants and hungers for is disguised in the glitter of this world. The sooner we realized this, the sooner we can resign from competing for attention, and recognize that we always had His attention.

He was always there. The God of the farthest galaxies and widest expanses is indelibly, indefinitely, passionately, unconditionally in love with you and that’s all that matters. No need to vie for the world when God the Creator of All desires to not only care for you but wants for to be with Him in Heaven.

Submit to Him today and allow His love to transform your life.

Faith & Feeling

Feeling relies on sensuality based on the things that are tangible whilst faith is founded on sensitivity and the knowledge of God’s Word.

¤ One relies on worldly knowledge, the other on divine knowledge.

¤ One relies on the flesh for leadership the other, on the Holy Spirit.

¤ On builds self, through self-satisfaction, self-gratification and all things self-centered. The other nourishes the spirit where God alone is glorified, flesh is crucified and service too all men is core.

¤ One leads to certain damnation as it is hostile towards the things of God whilst the other is assured of life in all its abundance as it utterly surrendered to Jesus Christ.

¤ One has an appetite that can never be filled. The rich are hell-bent on getting richer. The party-goer is always seeking the next party. He that is high is always seeking a higher high. None ever find what they are looking for.

The other has an unquenchable thirst for the fullness of God. Pouring yourself into others only leaves you empty and in need of a refill. Being filled, only makes you more thirsty. Being emptied, gives you an increase in the capacity in which you are filled.

I’ve done both, being filled with sin only left me more miserable, fearful and powerless as before. Being filled with God’s fullness is exhilarating each waking moment. You finally found the peace and long-term happiness (which is joy) that you were looking for. You not only gained liberty over your life along with the peace and the joy, but Jesus also gave us POWER. Enormous, supreme, world-changing power.

Leave the dark-side and come over to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. You will never be the same again!

Uncertainty

Life. Is it more filled with certainty or uncertainty? Life, is nothing but a seeming never-ending episode of uncertainty, leading to other uncertainties.

We get an education yet we are uncertain of the challenges we will face at school. We get qualified yet, are uncertain if we will even get a job that best suits our area of expertise or our passions. We get a job but even then, there is uncertainty of our level of success, mobility, the obstacles we may face and so much more. We may meet someone we fall in love with yet, we are never certain if they are the one we will marry, and if we do; we are never certain of how things will work out.

Amidst all these forms of bewilderment, the greatest of all that I ask myself is “When will I die? Will it be a peaceful death?” Maybe you don’t ask these questions but I most certainly do.

Life can be very uncertain. In fact, no one can ever be truly certain of exactly how life will turn out. We may have hopes, dreams and ambitions; we may even work as hard as possible to ensure a specific lifestyle, yet amidst it all, uncertainty is still present.

Life is filled with uncertainty, but of these things I am truly certain – God is real and His Love is even more so. This certainty, causes all other uncertainties to become blurred and thus out of my focus. There is a scripture that states, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” It’s a powerful question and statement even. It’s saying that having full knowledge that our God loves and cares for us, it matters not who may stand against us, be it principalities, powers, sickness, disease, death etc.

God is for us!!! This is the most certain statement that we can make. Death is certain, but because I have given my life to God, the uncertainty of time here on earth is not such a problem anymore. The focus now is to love as much, while there is such time to love as such.

No Idols Accepted Here

Being a Christian today is becoming extremely hard as each day goes by. One must be honest within themself and make the necessary adjustments to the dilemmas of Today’s Christendom. One major weapon of distraction today is the device we are holding in our hands right now.

Its power of distraction and destruction is far-reaching. It has not only destroyed the fabric of many relationships among us as humans, but it even threatens that which we have or seek to have with God. The world of social media is an all-encompassing web of gossip, trends, entertainment, dark proclivities among a host of other mind-swaying activities.

Funnily, the phone can be used for great good yet, more often than so; it is the tool that is crippling churches as members dwindle from distracted yet present, to indulging and absent. It’s honestly like I am watching the destruction of the world in slow motion and feel a strong sense of powerlessness in stopping it.

That which is in the hand has now replaced He who is within our heart; that which has no life is an idol now worshipped even among His stalwarts.

I pray today for a love unfiltered, undiluted, unlimited, unhinged, uncompromising and unimaginable between our selves and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray for a love that cannot be tampered with, that shall not be swayed, but will be laser-focused in its motives, its purpose and the process required to remain effective.

Let us seek the Lord for His tremendous grace that makes our weaknesses, strengths; even now in Jesus’ Name. AMEN!!!

Holiness: The Immutable Standard

We live in a world Today where good is becoming evil and evil, good. Actually, to be honest, the world has always been like this; they said Jesus was possessed after all. I was on Instagram recently when I watched a video captioned ‘love is love,’ and it basically was promoting gay couples. The comment section of course is where you could expect the drama to be. Anyone who disagreed with this behavior and responded even in the most diplomatic way was still branded as bashful, hateful or homophobic.

It’s amazing how we all can agree that murder and rape is wrong, yet homosexuality is now trying to blur those lines. So are the sins of fornication, adultery, greed, idolatry, unforgiveness and so much more. The line that separates good from evil, unrighteousness from holiness is trying to be blurred by the world around us, but God’s Word endures through all generations and neither changes like shifting shadows.

His standard of holiness then, is the same standard of holiness now and it never changes. Isn’t it funny how God made us in His image and likeness but we turned around and did Him the same favor, making Him into our own image and likeness; in order to suit our sinful lifestyles and appease our conscience? Let us not fall victim to the sin of pride, of exalting ourselves. Let us harken to the voice of the Lord through scripture and not be swayed by the culture and norms of today’s society; for ‘without holiness, no man shall see the Lord‘ (Hebrews 12:14).

FOCUSED

We, like our God are triune in nature. The trinity consists of God the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit, whilst we are made of body, mind and spirit. My question today is:

Which of the 3 (that is, body, mind and ) is most important?

Surely it is not the body, especially in weighing its value against eternity. God attributes the word ‘vapor’ as describing man’s life here on earth. The sad truth is that most of the population today pay greater homage to the body over the spirit. From eating normally to strict diets, sun-tan to daily gym workouts, many dedicate their majority of hours in a day and days in a week to their body over feeding, nurturing and building their spiritual being.

It’s been said that ‘a mind is a terrible thing to waste’ and Paul expressed his thought saying that what is seen is temporary, the mind is unseen and as such, eternal. The mind is built through education, emotion, experiences and everything else in between; and is in my opinion, second in importance to the spirit. The mind is where eternity in heaven is lost or gained. It is where successful people are made or destroyed. It is the mediator between body and spirit, the middle ground between the temporary and eternal. With the mind one may become the strongest man or woman of God, but it still pales when comparing it to the spirit, because in the end, it is our spirit that truly connects with God.

Our spirit maybe likened to a car turned on only by the presence of God, driven by His power and is maintained by His Holy Spirit. Without God in our lives, we become like a person pushing that car alongside the road manually. The car still moves of course, but you’re getting nowhere anytime soon. Life becomes so much more harder, sadder, stressing and depressing. The funny thing is we have fuel in the vehicle and we also have the key in the ignition. Nevertheless, we refuse to make the choice to switch it on. We use the vehicle by pushing it around, but we have not even began to unlock the potential therein. The worst part is that because the vehicle was never turned on, the mileage still remains at zero.

Thus, we’ve spent an entire life manually, individually and intentionally doing our own thing and in the end, we have no mileage to show for it. Such is a life in which the focus is wrong. As a photographer, I’ve learned to focus on that which is most important within the frame. When we focus the subject effectively the surrounding objects immediately becomes blurred. When we focus on our relationship with Jesus, the things we thought were so important fades away to obscurity to their rightful place. He desires those that will worship Him in spirit and truth…let’s begin our journey TODAY!!!
