Consistently Focused

Two men are trying to cut down a tree for themselves respectively. The first man applies the axe to his tree a thousand times and yet, the tree remained standing. The second man, only swings one hundred times and yet his tree, a tad bit wider than the first, fell to the ground. The difference between the two men was that the first one swung randomly hitting any and everywhere that he could, whilst the second one made every to apply each consecutive swing to the same spot.

Such is the power of focus and consistency. Even the biggest giants will fall when you are properly focused and consistent in prayer, obedience, praise etc. The reason why so many Christians are ineffective comes down to those two points; lack of focus and consistency. One may have focus but without consistency, focus is futile. Whilst consistency without focus is self-defeating.

My encouragement to us today is to gain insight and grace from the Holy Spirit in battling the core issues within our lives that have been eroding our success and purpose. Let us find the areas where we are weakest and apply consistent focus and see the power of God manifested in magnificent ways.

Our Near-Death Testimony

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

Two weeks ago, I had a near-death experience, in which the Lord revealed to me that the devil had a death warrant for myself and 3 of my family members. However, He intervened a split-second before we would have been in a most deadly accident on Hope Road, cancelling any such plan from being executed. The most shocking thing was that we are all four Christians coming from our weekly family prayer and fasting meeting that we have every Thursday.

The things I’ve learned are:
1. Satan cares not whether we’re saved or not; in fact he seems more determined to kill those who are a threat to him and his purposes.
2. Life’s fragility should never be forgotten.
3. Do all, say all, love as much as you can, today.
4. Stay under the coverage of His blood.
The world around you may be throwing themselves into deep darkness and sinfulness, yet I need you to stand your ground of integrity and holiness. It may seem boring and your body may very be craving these things yet, we are called to make our flesh subject to our spirit.
5. Fasting & Prayer, cuts worldly affections and addictions whilst giving us increase hate for sinfulness. It gives us the ability to detest the things that God abhors.

I thank you Jesus for Your mercy and faithfulness. You spared us so that we could be a living testimony for You, and we will be one!!!!

A Most Catastrophic Calamitous Eternal Destruction

Anyone who knows me, know of my love of video games. I had to previously break my addiction to Call of Duty, a game that I have spent hundreds of hours playing over the years. The pros at this game focus on three main objectives: kill-death ratio, win-loss ratio and score per minute. Some give priority to one over the other two, but my definition of the best player, was one who was complete in all categories.

Life, like Call of Duty may also be measured in similar ways. One should focus on Biblical objectives such as, how much people we minister to (encourage, evangelize, pray for etc) on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Of those ministered to, one may need to document how much of those have become Christians, ensure they are getting involved with a church and so forth. It’s shocking how many of us call ourselves children of God, yet we never tell a soul about Jesus and what He has done for us.

We may also need to value our lifestyles, our habits, actions, decisions and weigh the value of them all against eternity. It’s surprising how caught up we are in daily activities all of which have nothing to do with our God-given purpose, talents or gifts. Our lives are so cumbersome that it doesn’t allow us time or energy to do the things that God has called us to do. The poor, the hungry, the rejected, the widow, the fatherless, the homeless, the prisoners; these are they who God has called us to reach out to, not just to our friends and acquaintances within our mutually benefiting social network.

The numbers tell a different story more than our mouths may speak and our minds may think. Jesus said it best, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” Matthew 15:8. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” Proverbs 14:12. Many of us have silenced our conscience in an effort to sin comfortably and whilst even ‘Christians’ do the same to live a life free of the responsibility of following God’s Word, judgement and death looms more deadly and destructive than the most catastrophic disaster one could ever imagine.

The greatest shock will come to those who so convinced themselves they were saved, knowing in the depths of their souls they truly weren’t. Deceive not yourself one more day, my brothers and my sisters. Make it right before our Almighty King, Jesus; the KING of Kings and LORD of Lords.

Death is not a question of IF but WHEN.

For Want of a Nail

“For the want of a nail the shoe was lost,

For the want of a shoe the horse was lost,

For the want of a horse the rider was lost,

For the want of a rider the battle was lost,

For the want of a battle the kingdom was lost,

And all for the want of a horseshoe-nail.”

The horseshoe-nail may at the time seemed like the most insignificant, easily overlooked item on the list of things to worry about. It may have been as important as a fleeting thought or passerby on a busy street. Yet, the nail ignored became a kingdom destroyed.

The question I ask you today is this, “What nail are you overlooking today? What is the sin the easily besets you? Of which sin are you easily entangled in again and again? The seemingly insignificant, daily, seemingly harmless sin of today, can and may very well be the loss of a life and an eternity away from God tomorrow.

Many a friends of mine have come into contact with a near-death experience at some point in time. Even more have had the treasure of conviction made present by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Yet, most of my friends and sadly even family members, still betray their own God-given purpose for the likes of sin, self and the grave.

This message is for the each and every one of us, myself included. In introspection and sheer honesty, couple with humility is our assured victory in Christ Jesus. Let us not overlook any sin in our lives but become militant in our desire for “holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” Hebrews 12:14.

Wants, Needs & Desperation

The Lord said in His Word in Psalms 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” Yet, some of us have desires, that is, things that we want that still haven’t been met.

Then there are the things we need, in which Philippians 4:19 states, “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Yet, some of us still have needs that are yet to be satisfied.

Finally, there are things that we are desperate for. Regarding desperation, the Bible states in Matthew 5:6 that, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”

Wants are normally many, needs few and desperation is mainly singular in quantity. We may want a house, a car, wealthy influence; need a trustworthy spouse, a job, food; but be desperate for healing, a breakthrough, a miracle, deliverance.

What is the one thing above everything else that you are desperate for? One important point to note is this, God most assuredly shall give you the desires of your heart once you delight yourself in Him; He shall supply all of your needs in His timing, assuming that you are being obedient to His Word; anything that you crave for more than life itself shall surely be given.

Jacob was desperate and wrestled with God until the breaking of day and His life was forever changed. The lady with the issue of blood crawled through the tightly knit crowd and received healing from a lifelong condition. Your life can and will be changed too if you are hungry enough, thirsty enough and desperate enough.

Awake the Sleeping Giant

Scripture Reading:
They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness. But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness. These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 2 Peter 2: 13-18

In times like this people are reminded that indeed, our God is not to be taken lightly, but in fact, must be feared. Whether the focus is the earthquake of Mexico yesterday, or the effects of Hurricane Irma, each one of us have the individual responsibility of making it right with our God.

It’s said that a wise man learns from his mistakes and an even wiser man learns from the mistakes of others. So far, in between hurricanes, earthquakes, natural deaths, accidents and crimes, life and death is at work. The sad reality is that some of us have fell into such deep a sleep that none of this even tugs on their conscience regarding their need to seek God.

It’s as if an indifferent, zombie-like disposition has taken some over, where no situation or catastrophe can awake them from their sinful state. I implore each and every one of to search our hearts today, that we do no provoke the Lord our God to wrath. We may have spared for the likes of such current disasters, but trust and believe that if you are one to deny Him, He knows how and when to get to you. This is an encouragement and warning, as the Bible carefully states in Isaiah 55:6, “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.”

The Victory we seek is in the struggle we Defeat.

The Victory we seek is in the struggle we Defeat.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

How great is the achievement if it came through ill-gotten gain or any other means other than hard work? There are those that were born into successful and wealthy families and there are those who made success out of the mess that life through at them.

The Victory we seek is in the struggle we Defeat. The Victory is in the struggle itself and no where else. God built struggle as the measure to test one’s resilience,  zeal and their she determination.

As Christians we must ensure struggle with praise, prayer, patience and thanksgiving as we know ALL THINGS; not some things; but ‘ALL THINGS work together for the good to them that love the Lord.’

So endure the struggle and ensure that you keep your focus no where else but on Jesus and giving Him the glory and the praise in all things. God will see you through. There is one thing that my God cannot do and I am so proud to say, My God Cannot Fail!!!! AMEN!

The Measure of Our Treasure

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34

The word ‘treasure‘ according to the Merriam Dictionary is described as wealth of any kind or in any form, or something of great worth or value. Treasure today can be defined as money, time and energy.

For most, their main desire is for more money, the poor need it, the average pursue it and the rich hoard it. Whenever we come into contact with money, God instantly starts looking on how we spend it. What percentage is spent on ourself? What percentage is given to God? Do we include Him in the ways and means that each dollar is spent?

What about our time? How much hours are spent furthering our own direct needs and wants over the plans, purposes and mission that God made for us to execute. What is the ratio of time spent doing our own thing versus time doing God’s will and seeking His face?

Thirdly, there is our energy. Many may honor God with their money through tithing, some may even spend some time having their devotions, but how much of our energy is spent being a witness to the ends of the earth, evangelizing, encouraging and praying for others.

He is looking for people who will not just honor Him with their lips but with their hearts as well, their prized treasures, the sacred gifts, their best. Are you willing to give God your best treasure? Is He not more than worth it? Will He not more than honor your giving Him your best by giving you His best treasures?

Finally, I must note one simple and overlooked fact:
God has no use for our money, He already owns it all. When He asks you to give it is His way of getting blessings to you. Giving our best to Him shows how obedient and reliant we are on Him. AMEN!!!!

The Optimal You

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

I remember growing up and seeing U.S. Army ads while watching t.v. I found their slogan ‘Be the Best that You Can Be’ so fascinating so much so that it stuck with me as a motivation to be the best in whatever I applied my focus to.

Life today demands our best, whether in work or play, most of us have an innate desire to be good at it, whilst a few want to be great and even a smaller number seek to be the best. The optimal you cannot, will not and will never be found outside of Christ though. This must be noted and taken into our most deepest consideration.

However successful, happy or comfortable life may be at this time, God always calls us to come higher. His desire is to see us grow from faith to faith, strength to strength and from glory to glory. If you have dared to live life outside of Christ, dare no longer.

Be the optimal you, the best you and the most successful you that you can be; be a child of the KING of Kings and the LORD of Lords. This is your day to step from the natural into the realm of supernatural miracles, blessings and provisions. Be the Best that You Can Be!!

Increased Faith

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2a

Faith is not derived by our sheer determination and will power; it is ultimately sourced in God and by God. He has given us the formula to have faith, nurture it and increase it as we deem necessary.

Read the Bible Daily
The Bible is the primary source of increasing one’s faith. taking time within each day for the daily reading of scripture will produce and increase your faith.

Meditate on the Word of God throughout the Day
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither– whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:2-3

Memorize one Verse Per Day
As according to the Armor of God the Word of God is not only the Sword of the Spirit but the Shield of Faith. Increase in knowledge of the verses of the Bible enables you to wield sword & shield as a greater warrior for Christ.

Confess/Speak God’s Word over Yourself and Your Life for 10 Minutes each day at least.
Let us just say that you struggled in confidence and self-esteem; meditating, memorizing and speaking Psalm 139:14 (which states, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made“) would bring healing and restoration. As you keep repeating that line of scripture, with eyes closed and mind focused you can literally feel your faith building as the Spirit moves.

These are some of the core means of building faith. Some other means are hearing of other people’s testimonies, experiencing the power of God intimately, worship and so much more. I encourage you Today to build and strengthen your faith. Our family needs it, our country even more.
